Parks And Recreation

It's not hard to see that one of the best things about living in California is the weather and the ability to experience the outdoors and city parks year round. And luckily for those living in the Santa Clarita region, there are lots of options when it comes to parks and recreation. Instead of spending the day spending all your money for jewelry or just sitting on the couch, you should really check out all that the city has to offer. Here are some of the best outdoor attractions right here close to home.

Santa Clarita's Central Park may not be as vast as its namesake in New York City, but it's still one of the best locations here in California. The park sits right at the foot of the mountains and features a food stand and picnic tables, as well as a children's play area and baseball diamond. This park also recently opened an off-leash dog park called Central Bark, so you can now experience it with more of the members of your household. You could spend the day there with your family or just take a lunch away from your SR&ED project and enjoy nature.

Ten years ago, the Department of Veteran Affairs purchased half an acre of land and turned it into what is now Veterans Historical Plaza. This park space includes memorials to fallen soldiers as well as water features and a Victorian style garden. The community has even helped to enrich the space, adding pieces like the "Willie, the Drummer boy" statue. There is symmetry in the layout that makes this a peaceful and escaping part of the city that can really be enjoyed by all. Even if you're as busy as Dennis Gartman, you should still take the time to experience this local site.

For those looking for a little more of an active experience, many of the Santa Clarita parks include walking and hiking trails. Or, you could head just outside of the city center to Castaic Lake Recreation Area and take advantage of the many water sports that are available to visitors there. Instead of spending your vacation at a hockey school Toronto to stay fit you could just take a short trip and be a part of Castaic Sports Complex.

There is so much to see and do in Santa Clarita's many parks that you could never grow tired of them. Take the kids to one of the city's skate parks or plan a time for the whole family to try horseback riding. Or, you can just escape from the everything from food product launches to cell phones for a few hours and take in a little bit of sun.
